What Customers Say About The Darkest Kiss (Lords of the Underworld, Book 2):

Her name calling was a little odd, like she referred to Lucien as flowers. She's a complete klepto and that is her way of satisfying her baser "anarchy" needs. Giving of the all-key weakens the giver, loses their memory to boot. too early for me. we're first introduced to luckily gives way to the Anya after page 10ish (on a Kindle, no sense of pages). Lucien is threatened by Cronus and the only thing he initially can be threatened with is the destruction of his friends. I liked him from the beginning and never stopped. So throughout the book, we learn more of his friends and are of course tempted to pick up their stories.

Anya also has a curse that could forever and ever bind her to one man. The seductive "sultress" (yes I believe I'm making up words.). I loved this book. I thought maybe the author was about to unveil Lucien loved roses or something and thats why he smelled like flowers. Cronus has just (just being a relative term) defeated Zeus and escaped prison and wants the All-Key to avoid future entrapment.

Anya is the "minor" Goddess of Anarchy and when we're first introduced to her, I really did not like her and had no idea how this could possibly be the heroine of the book. Anya was gifted, by her Father, who was the keeper of the prison, the "All-Key" which means she can never be locked up/confined by giving her the power to "flash" wherever she wants. But no, nothing ever came of it. Lucien, one of the Lords of the Underworld, Keeper of Death and the leader of this band of Lords is an awesome character.

Can't wait to pick up the next by this author.Wow. And all the little rules of character roles/nuances played out very well and in the end since I'm a sucker for (and expect) a happy ending I was able to assume what would happen. Anyways all the while the story between Lucien and Anya is happening, we get a taste into the lives of the other Lords of the Underworlds. Anya needs to give it willingly or if dead to someone other then her killer can claim it. Giving up all for love 'n all that, but I still enjoyed reading it play out.

Lucien just rationalized it by thinking she makes up quirky names for those she wants to keep at a distance, I can accept that. So editing the review. Please read and enjoy. Started the above without finishing the thought. I love that we get a taste for his abilities, but he's so controlled we never fully realize his power, the author managed to surprise me in his **SPOILER ALERT**defeating of the Hydra**END SPOILER (had to see that one coming, just not how).**.

Cronus, the new King, demands Lucien kill Anya.****SPOILER OVER**** This makes for some pretty fun scenes between Lucien and Anya; as the tension between them builds, so does the romance. All the while the story between Lucien and Anya is happening, in quick summary****ANOTHER SPOILER FOLKS****, Lucien collects souls and often has to drop what he's doing to see to the task (this isn't an annoying story delay, actually I loved that we saw this side of Lucien's life). It starts to become clear that as her name dictates, she's not a by-the-rules type woman. It was just a nickname she had.that was odd.

I enjoyed the romantic storyline, it left me panting.made me want my own demon.I am now reading the next installment and so on and so on. Love Showalter's style, it was slightly different from the paranormal romance novels I was reading. This series is all about demons.was unsure if I would like it, but once I started reading I read them pretty quickly.

It didn't work within the previous context given to the Gods and their actions. Each warrior hosts an evil demon such as Violence, Disease, Distrust, Death, Wrath, etc. There was almost no development or progress in the fight and again I found the ending unrealistic for the characters.I will keep reading the series because I find the series idea and subplots interesting, but I hope the next book is an improvement. I cheered as Anya from The Darkest Kiss kicked Lucien's ass and took names while doing it.

All the books are based around a group of Lords, warriors who were once in good with the Gods. I was slightly more interested in the relationships, but the subplot of the war was almost entirely missing from this story. I was going to review these individually, but I thought I would go through all four in the series pretty quickly and do one big glowing review. That seemed to be true upon reading the first two books, but things slowed down for me reading book 3 (The Darkest Pleasure). The series starts off well. These demons provide the stumbling blocks in the warriors relationships with their fated women. On top of the romance there is suspenseful plot built around the premise of a group of "Hunters" who think the world would be a better place without the existence of these demons, therefore without the existence of the Lords. I rooted for Ashlyn in The Darkest Night to find her own feet and stand on them.

Book 4, The Darkest Whisper, was a disappointment to me. Their stories grabbed me and pulled me in so that I had to finish them.I wish I could say the same positive things for book 3 and 4. I found myself more interested in the subplot of the war than I was in the state of the relationships. I don't want to spoil anything so I won't go into detail but I found the ending to The Darkest Pleasure unrealistic. Hunters will do anything necessary to get their hands on the Lords of the Underworld and the series develops into a war between the two.I really enjoyed book 1 and book 2. The characters seemed to be too typical and predictable. your typical tortured warrior who finds a women he seemingly can't have.

Something about the last two books fell flat for me. The women were relatable and likable. They did something they shouldn't have and were expelled from the Gods' good graces and punished by being forced to harbor evil demons. The warriors were strong and sexy, yet vulnerable.

Hunters are always on the lookout for the immortals, wanting to kill them, especially the Lords of the Underworld. They opened Pandora's Box and now have to live with demons inside themselves. I felt like that made the book longer than it needed to be. Lucien and Anya are great characters and the chemistry between the two is hot. In The Darkest Kiss, Lucien, is the Keeper of Death. As soon as Anya, goddess of Anarchy, finds the Lords of the Underworld, she falls in love with Lucien. The Darkest Kiss (Lords of the Underworld, Book 2) takes right off where The Darkest Night left off. The plot kept jumping from Anya and Lucien to a few of the other Lords. Lucien has been ordered by the gods to kill Anya, but he can't bring himself to do it.

When she makes herself known to him, Lucien is weary of her. After reading The Darkest Night (Lords of the Underworld, Book 1), I knew I wanted to continue reading Gena Showalter's Darkest Night Series. Lucien is a great hero. This is a fun series. Anya does everything she can to seduce him.I enjoyed The Darkest Kiss (Lords of the Underworld, Book 2).

As the Lords of the Underworld travel distant locations in search of an ancient relic, Anya and Lucien pair up. The love scenes were done really well. The one thing I didn't like about this book was that towards the end, there was too much involved. But all in all, this was an enjoyable read If you like paranormal romance, Alpha males and a fun and sexy plot, you may want to give this series a try. But once Lucien realizes Anya is not a hunter, he still wonders why she wants him. I'll be reading book three. In the Lords of the Underworld series, a group of immortal men live have been cursed to house demons for eternity.

I liked that Anya is a strong woman, she doesn't take 'no' for an answer and can take care of herself. But Anya won't give up that easy, she knows she wants Lucien and sets out to seduce him. She keeps herself hidden, and basically begins to stalk Lucien, following his every move. He is badly scarred and all the brothers consider him to be 'the ugly one'.

It's a damn shame that the leader of the Titans has just ordered him to kill her with the added incentive that if he fails his fellow immortals will suffer the consequences. I never knew what was going to happen next and will absolutely be doing a re-read it as well as continuing on with this amazing series. After their first meeting Lucian is unable to keep the teasing, sexy spitfire out of his thoughts. There are also several other immortals stories taking place at the same time which instead of distracting from only added to the tension in a very JR Ward kind of way.

As such he is responsible for removing the souls of the dead and transporting them to either heaven or hell. I couldn't put this book down and found Anya to be hilarious, a sort of a female version of Bones from Jeanine Frosts Night Huntress series. It was refreshing to get a heroine who is not helpless, insecure and whiney but instead cheeky, aggressive and confident who never apologises for who she is. Lucian in turn is an alpha male but not in the typical chest beating way he's thoughtful, compassionate, loyal and self sacrificing. THE DARKEST KISS is book 2 in the exciting and original Lords Of The Underworld series and it's absolutely fantastic. Gena Sholwalter has outdone herself here, further developing previous characters and sub-plots she has also created my new favourite couple in Lucian and Anya. (Surprise, most don't want to go) Of his fellow immortals he is the most in control but also the most serious and sombre. Anya however is a wicked girl and finds the scars sexy, wanting to run her tongue over them.

He doesn't understand what a modelesque looking goddess could possibly see in him because he's not much to look at these days, having permanently disfigured himself to make sure no woman ever looked his way again. So the chase begins, with Lucian trying desperately not to feel anything for Anya and her enjoying the fact that he's been ordered to kill her because it only makes the game of seducing him that much more fun. Yeah I loved these two and highly recommend this series. Ultimately they join forces which only complicates things further because Anya never mentioned her own curse, that of being unable to consummate a relationship. Having distanced himself long ago he has no choice but to do what the gods command of him. The duo `flash' (dematerialize) to exotic locations trading barbed words and having the occasional swordfight along the way all as part of their amazing foreplay.

Their story is filled with raw emotion, tons of sexual tension and non-stop adventure. She was able to make him smile and even laugh for the first time in hundreds of years and that kiss. Anya doesn't mince words or actions in the fact that she wants Lucian and no other will do. Lucian, as one of the Lords Of The Underworld is the warrior bonded with the demon of death. This book starts out with a sexual bang as Lucian meets the Goddess of Anarchy in a nightclub.
